James Massiah

James Massiah

James Massiah is a South London poet, DJ and artist whose work moves between writing, music, performance and nightlife. His poetry explores desire, city life, mortality and excess, while his DJ sets draw on the same broad, instinctive relationship with music that has made him a familiar figure around NTS and London's underground. He is also the founder of Adult Entertainment, the influential night and creative platform that brings poetry and club culture into close conversation.

Returning to Skehans as part of the Adult Entertainment curation, Massiah closes the stage with a short performance that brings together the literary and musical strands running through the programme.

Adult Entertainment Soundsystem featuring readings from Anna Mikkola, Soap Collins, Theo Papoui & special guests

Adult Entertainment is the monthly event and creative platform founded by James Massiah, built around the overlap between poetry, nightlife and contemporary culture. Its events have traditionally brought writers and artists from the party and poetry scenes together around subjects including late nights, dating, city life and dancing.

For RALLY, the Adult Entertainment Soundsystem takes over Skehans for three hours, combining music with live readings from Anna Mikkola, Soap Collins, Theo Papoui and some special guests. It's an opening that sets the tone for the whole stage: less a conventional programme of separate acts than a shared space where DJs, writers, performers and musicians can move freely between one another.
